Louis E. Sousa, CFA was named President and Chief Executive Officer of Plimoth Investment Advisors in 2025. He is responsible for the development of the organization and oversees the firm’s investment, fiduciary, operations and retirement plan services areas. He actively manages client portfolios and serves as a member of the investment team, which he oversaw for eight years as Chief Investment Officer. Lou has served as the primary author of the company’s newsletters since joining the firm in 2016, keeping clients informed of important economic developments and financial market dynamics, with an occasional dash of pop culture association.
Lou is an experienced portfolio manager having worked in the investment industry for over 30 years. He spent eight years at Scudder Investments where he became a Vice President of the firm working with various types of institutional and retail clients primarily on multi-strategy asset allocation portfolios. He was a founding member of the investment office at Wellesley College in 2002 where he spent 10 years as a member of the team managing the College endowment. He later went on to manage marketable equities and hedge fund strategies for four years at Williams College.
Lou earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Roger Williams University in Business Administration with minors in Finance and Economics. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and Boston Security Analysts Society. He also completed a Senior Executive Investment Management program through Harvard Business School Executive Education.
Lou currently serves as a member of the Finance Committee and as a Corporator of the SouthCoast Community Foundation where he served two terms as a member of the Board of Directors from 2017–2023 in a number of capacities including: Treasurer, Chair of the Finance Committee and member of the Investment Committee and Audit Committee. He also has served on the Investment Committee of the Diocese of Fall River since 2017.
Lou grew up in nearby Bristol, RI. Outside of the office he enjoys spending time with his two children, paddleboarding, playing poker, and walks with the family Yorkie.
